Saint James Renovation
In many homes, the kitchen quietly serves its purpose—meals are prepared, dishes are washed, and life moves along. But for this St James family who love to host, celebrate, and gather with friends, the kitchen needed to be more than functional. It needed to become the true heart of their home.
BEFORE
The original layout simply couldn’t keep up with the family’s lifestyle. Located at the front of the house, the kitchen felt tucked away and disconnected from the spaces where people naturally gathered. It was compact, closed-in, and limited both the cooking workflow and the ability to entertain. Large dinners meant squeezing around tight corners, and parties quickly spilled into other rooms.
The renovation began with a bold decision: relocate the kitchen entirely.

By moving the kitchen from the front of the home to the back, the design team unlocked the square footage needed to completely reimagine the space. The new location allowed the spaced needed to create a seamless environment where cooking, dining, and conversation could happen all at once.

DURING
Thoughtful design details help the space function beautifully during large gatherings. Wide circulation paths keep traffic moving smoothly even when the house is full, while the island doubles as prep space, serving station, and social hub. Storage was carefully integrated to keep countertops clear and maintain a clean, uncluttered feel even during busy events.

AFTER

What was once a confined room at the front of the house has been transformed into a bright, expansive gathering place at the back—perfectly aligned with how the family lives.

In the end, the renovation wasn’t just about moving walls or installing new cabinetry. It was about creating a space designed for connection—one that reflects a family who believes the best moments in life happen around the table.
